I found the following about inspiration. I love finding words and focusing on their full meanings. To be told I have been inspiring makes me curious about what it means to be inspiring. So what have I learned about the word inspire?
Perhaps this blog will inspire and give others a foundation for their own efforts to be inspirational. I think I thought of being inspirational as being an example for others. I thought some on leadership, and how to affect others, even pass on things I value. We do affect others we connect to. This is a great responsibility. We are like ripples in a pond.
“The word ‘inspiration’ ultimately derives from the Greek for ‘God-breathed’ or ‘divinely breathed into’. In Greek myth, inspiration is a gift of the muses, the nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne (‘ Memory ’), though it can also come from Apollo (Apollon Mousagetēs, ‘Apollo Muse- leader ’), Dionysus (god of wine), or Aphrodite (goddess of love).
Inspiration itself is also “good for our general well-being. It can increase feelings of gratitude and appreciation, lift our mood, and provide us with a heightened sense of purpose.”
In looking back I think of the things that have inspired me, and then I think of the times I have lived through that have inspired us all. Like the glorious, hopeful song, “I’d like to teach the world to sing.”
I’d like to teach the world to sing.
I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
I’d like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
(That’s the song I hear)
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
I’d like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
(That’s the song I hear)
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony, that’s the song I hear
This song inspired me way back then, as have other things since. Joyce Hifler, the thing that inspires me more is the goodness I find in other people! If we observe other loving people there is an inspiration in each and every one!
We must be proactive at this time, and in being this way, we can be inspiring to each other. All things begin when we ask and answer: Who? What? When? Where” And How? Ideas start spiraling forward. Artists, writers, poets are vital to changing the world. Not that others are not inspiring. I am just focusing on these groups because they can be a part of the healing process of the world. I think that the importance of these groups has been underestimated, yet they prove themselves repeatedly to improve life. They facilitate and say things others do not or can not. Art and writing influence. Don’t let others silence the impact of art and writing. To do these well we are involved with living life, we observe, we know what it is to be human____in all ways! We are not vulnerable only by choices we make___ we can change those choices, and impact by a gentle process where we teach without people knowing they are being taught or by the iron hammer?_____ People do not change until they see a need to change. What we learn through our senses and accept brings change to us. It is up to us to inspire others because we all affect one another. We do not need to be martyrs in living life, just good human examples through what we accept as good and right. We all want the same basic things out of life.
I think inspiration comes from seeing and hearing good things others do and wanting to do the same ones own way.
