This is one of my favorite Shibui’s. It is a first of its kind. The water is intentional as is the boat and its shadow, the sand, and the water’s edge. The trees in the distance.
The top of this image was created through blotting.
Note: To create a Shibui Found Image Art you work with the edges of what you find, with flowers I often find a center something or other, and build-out. Although a shape will begin something.
There are a couple blown, wet mediums hanging down like stamen. Leaves are intentional.
In creating this Shibui, and according to what I found, I wanted to work with realism.

I am quite available to make such requests. I wish to share the following: The existentialist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote a book called The Ethics of Ambiguity. In it, she lays out a guiding ethic in response to the philosophy of existentialism. It might be somewhat familiar to you already. She writes, “To will oneself free is also to will others free. This will is not an abstract formula. It points out to each person concrete action to be achieved.”
