New England Asters, Pejj Nunes

How purple the New England Aster is!
Flaunting on stiff hairy limbs,
With pointed leaves, rough with smooth edges,
Royal blooms of bright color.
Bright centers, round and yellow.
As glorious as the sun, after cloudy days.
Sometimes pink, sometimes white___.
Midsummer blooms the aster, into the fall,
Swamp Aster its dainty cousin, smooth___,
Smooth bracts, dancing everywhere!
Proudly flaunting, waiting to be plucked.
By stream, in fields, or thickets not so hidden be.
Almost always a weedy mass. A bouquet easily made.
Perfect for the picking into frost and before snow.
