There is a dream, I have dared to dream. To help many other through my writing and my art.
“There is a dream I have dreamed so many times. It is a dream of rivers, all kinds of rivers, gentle, shallow, deep, turbulent, flooding, rocky, and always flowing.” I am drawn to rivers and the ocean for their power, and beauty. They sooth, giving comfort. They meet my needs. I can get lost in them to a point of deep mediation where I am alone in oneness___. I love the vastness of the seas, the oceans. Their depths reminds me of my own depth. They are immediate than that what lays beyond our point of vision; in the sky.
“I have watched them from great heights, from very near, in fear and in quiet peace. But from these dreams I have learned that truly all rivers run to the sea. These are the turbulent, the peaceful, the depths and shallows places of my life. And they were all building within me a central point to which all my rivers flow and from which all life abounds” I am reminded of this each time I am drawn to any body of water. Water is indeed life. “The place from where the rivers come, there they go again. It is life on a cycle, the endless, limitless infinity, born and reborn, alive to the fullest!” Joyce Hifler, All Rivers Run To The Sea. And so we live life.
Black Elk’s Circle Poem
“Everything the Power of the World does
Is done in a circle. The sky is round,
And I have heard that the earth is round
Like a ball, and so are all the stars.
The wind, in its greatest power, whirls.
Birds make their nest in circles,
For theirs is the same religion as ours.
The sun comes forth and goes down again
In a circle. The moon does the same
And both are round. Even the seasons
Form a great circle in their changing,
And always come back again to where they were.
The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood,
And so it is in everything where The Power moves.”
Black Elk, Medicine Man of the Oglala Sioux Nation.
I believe I am part of something much bigger than just myself. To be less than I am is unthinkable. I exist for a greater purpose than simply existing. Just existing is not living fully. What more could I want? And if we live on after this? Then what will I become? Has my experience taught me well? Prepared me for something more? Will I find this out? How many life times do we get? There are commonalities in every thing that is. “All rivers run to the sea___.” Concluding into a greater whole of mind, spirit and body. Are we not made of the same stuff as is the earth itself? Do not rivers, seas, oceans fill the needs of the earth in its own cycle?
